Call: Refugee artists from Ukraine wanted for multimedia theater project!
“ESCAPE! – Escape as a creative challenge” is a multimedia theater and art project on the theme of escape for the sake of bare survival, abrupt emigration, departure into a foreign land.
In view of the current situation in Ukraine, the Prague Shakespeare Company (Czech Republic) in cooperation with the Filmboard Karlsruhe (Germany) launches the creative participatory project “ESCAPE!” under the direction of the artist and theater educator Markus Nieden,
accompanied by the documentary filmmaker Joachim Wossidlo .
Participants are invited to share stations of their escape,
stories about their partly unforeseen, often involuntary stay abroad (journey into the unknown, discarding their previous identity in favor of a new one,
confrontation with cultural differences and other aspects of flight situations).
Based on interviews, self-written texts, readings and theater improvisations, we will develop scenes and assemble them into a play, accompanied by expressive musical as well as visual contributions.
